Sara + Samantha were our first same sex wedding and we were so honored to work with two such amazing, hilarious and badass women! They were such a hoot. We absolutely loved getting to know these kind souls. After months of planning, Sara + Sam's big day finally came in mid-May. They spent the morning getting ready in separate rooms at the downtown Courtyard Marriott. Sam does her own make-up every day, so her wedding make-up was nothing short of stunning! Each bride had their bridal party helping them with all of the details that morning. The Knot Too Shabby Events team arrived to The RiverRoom in the morning and began setting up for their special day. Sara + Sam's wedding had a warm, comforting feel to it. It was intimate and everyone was over joyous to be there. Sara + Sam tied the knot on the deck at The RiverRoom. They had tulle draped on the brick as the arbor. These two were so excited to get married and it's written all over Sara's face! IT was beautiful seeing all of the love and support they had from their friends and family. After saying "I do", Sara + Sam danced their way out while the bridal party followed with some pretty awesome dance moves. Following the ceremony, Sara + Sam took pictures around Downtown Wilmington with their bridal party and families. We kept guests entertained in doors. They had hors d'oeuvres to snack on and yummy drinks to sip while enjoying music from My Wedding DJ during cocktail hour. The tables were decorated with navy linens, lace runners, white lanterns with candles, mason jar floral centerpieces, and candle votives. At each place setting, there was a madlibs card made specially for Sara + Sam. What's funny is that Sam accidentally ordered them with the wrong date but her easy-going attitude let it go and we used them anyways! Instead of table numbers, they used mini chalkboards with song names on them. After cocktail hour, Sara + Sam were introduced as the new Mrs. and Mrs.! They went into their first dance by Lee Brice, "I Don't Dance." After their first dance, dinner began. The DJ would play a song from the chalkboard sign table numbers. When the song was played, the table could then go through the buffet provided by Coastal Catering and Events. Once guests had gone through the buffet, the maids of honor, Lisa and Holly, gave toasts. Sara + Sam had to decide whether to be naughty or nice with their cake cutting. Thankfully, they chose to be nice and no cake was spared. Sara + Sam then took on the dance floor with their friends and family members. To end the night and send the happy couple away, all of their guests lined up outside the steps of The RiverRoom for a sparkler send off. Congrats Sara + Sam. Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day! You know you're a special kind of client if we can go to beer fest together! Click on images below to enlarge. Our Favorite Wedding Moment: We loved watching Sara walk in with all 7 of her "moms." Sara grew up in a very close family with lots of powerful women around her. There was no other way to walk down the aisle than with those who molded her the most. It was so special to watch Sara & Sam be supported by so many great people. Vendors
