On Saturday, September 27, 2014, Mary + Paul tied the knot at Lebanon Chapel in the enchanting Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, NC. They were surrounded by 70 of their closest friends and family members for the intimate ceremony. Billy Beach Photography was on site to capture all of the special moments and you'll see some of his photos below (as well as a few amateur ones from me). Following the ceremony, The British Taxi was hired to transport the bridal party from the chapel to downtown at The RiverRoom . All of the wedding guests were outside along Water Street waiting for the newlyweds to arrive. Everyone cheered as they drove up! It was so precious. Mary + Paul shared their first dance to "Tupelo Honey" by Van Morrison once they got inside the reception space. When the formal dances and dinner concluded, it was time to boogie. You know it's a good dance party with DJ Professionals & Video there. I love looking back once the ceremony is over and guests are enjoying the reception to admire our work as wedding coordinators. Mary was very specific about what she wanted on the wedding day and she had a straight vision; Paul had his say on certain things too ;). It was our job to make sure we gave them everything they wanted and more. I love the combination of navy, gold and white. Mary designed the flowers herself so they were exactly how she imagined them. At the end of the day, we were so happy to see the happy faces on all of the guests, especially the Bride and Groom. Thank you so much Paul + Mary for having us be a part of your big day. We thoroughly enjoyed your detailed layouts, email correspondence and always positive attitude. :) Mary's WeddingWire Review: "Melissa, of Knot Too Shabby Events, was absolutely amazing! She has defined balance. The balance between guiding and directing to listening and envisioning. End result and absolutely breath taking day! Our planning took place from four hours away, which was far more challenging logistically than I'd thought, though I think that's a great way to describe how the entire wedding planning process was to me...challenging. There were far more details than I'd ever imagined. Melissa kept me sane and grounded through out the process. She was always quick with emails when I needed opinions or had thoughts. She was a tremendous help with reviewing and finalizing our rental and libation order. She was flexible each time we planned our monthly wedding planning trips to line up vendors etc... She was able to be candid and professional with her thoughts, and she really knows her business. The other thing I noticed was she has a lot of respect through out the Wilmington vendors. Ultimately Melissa set up every detail with amazing attention and thoroughness. I tell you, I think for Melissa setting up and carrying out events is a true labor of love! I'm truly touched when I remember the feeling when I saw how beautiful the venue was on my wedding day....that day that seemed so far away! It was a dream. Melissa does her job so well that I actually miss her! Talk about meeting as strangers and becoming friends somewhere along the process! Beyond my imagination! " Paul's WeddingWire Review: "Melissa was the planner for our reception, and every detail was exactly as we hoped. She is professional and had numerous suggestions for vendors and schedule that made our wedding day incredibly easy. Of all the vendors needed to make a wedding day happen, in retrospect the planner is probably the most critical - she was on top of every detail so we could enjoy our day. Melissa is fantastic, I would highly recommend her to anyone planning a wedding in Wilmington." Click on images below to enlarge. Favorite Wedding Moment: Seeing Mary nearly in tears as she saw the wedding reception for the first time. It was prettier than she ever imagined it would be and having her loved ones there was the icing on the cake. She was super thrilled about seeing both of the cakes from Hot Pink Cake Stand even more perfect than she pictured! All in all, seeing Mary and Paul so happy was all I needed to know I helped make sure they had the perfect wedding day! Vendors

Talk about a wedding glow! Brittany definitely had that bridal glow on her wedding day and she was all smiles as she married her best friend, Paul. Brittany + Paul wed at the lovely RiverRoom in downtown Wilmington, NC. The wedding took place on the riverfront deck on a sunny Friday afternoon in late September 2014. The ceremony decorations consisted of tall white lanterns rented from Etc Party Rentals. Brittany + Paul used a combination of white wedding chairs and white benches for guest seating. Skip Corbett of A Beach Wedding Minister was the wedding officiant and always a pleasure to work with. It was very simple and sweet. Following the ceremony, guests headed inside The RiverRoom for cocktail hour. The Basics is one of my favorite restaurants in Wilmington so my mouth was watering the second I found out they were the caterer for this great event. Not only was the food a knock out, but the room looked beautiful too. Brittany and her bridesmaids designed the flower centerpieces consisting of white hydrangeas and different shades of pink roses. We used an interesting combination of gold and silver on the tables but it worked out perfectly together. Each place setting had the cutest (and tastiest) party favor for the guests - pink cotton candy! After dinner, we danced the night away with DJ Professionals & Video. As the sunset along the Cape Fear River, the ambiance of the room really outdid itself with lots of candles and the addition of Edison lights from The Audio Visual People. There is no better way to end a wonderful wedding than a sparkler send off and we did just that. Brittany + Paul are coming up on their 1 year wedding anniversary and we want to wish you a wonderful future filled with lots of love, laughs and happiness! Thanks for having Knot Too Shabby Events as a special part of your big day! To many more... - Cheers Brittany's WeddingWire Review: "Melissa was wonderful and did an amazing job! She is very helpful and is quick to respond to emails. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her. She made our day extra special!" Click on images below to enlarge. Favorite Wedding Moment: Brittany danced with her father during the infamous father/daughter dance to "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle. The moment was so sweet and genuine. There is no doubt where Brittany got her sweet and funny soul from! I just loved watching them enjoy this priceless moment in time! Vendors

Some say it was love at first sight. They met in middle school and the entire bridal party has been friends since then. The couple spoke on how hard it was choosing who would be a bridesmaid with Courtney and who would be a groomsmen with Daniel since they have all been "besties" since they can nearly remember. This bond was evident on the wedding day when everyone was hanging out, joking and having fun with each other. The wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place on the riverfront deck at The RiverRoom with Han Hills but due to a little rain on the wedding day, we moved the ceremony inside. It worked out well to have a reception-style ceremony. Erin Whittle was hired to photograph the big day, while Brick Street Cinema was on site with their HD video camera! Courtney + Daniel took formal photos in the alley near The RiverRoom with their bridal party after the ceremony before being introduced as the new Mr. and Mrs. by DJ David at DJ Professionals & Video. They went into their first dance, "The Idea of Growing Old" by The Features. Perfect song choice since the love birds have known each other throughout childhood and will continue to grow old together. Courtney made the fabric flower centerpieces by cutting hundreds of satin fabric circles and strategically burning the edges together to look like fabric petals. The final product was beautiful and the time Courtney put in to make them just right was remarkable. She ordered paper bouquets from a shop on Etsy. I loved the creative touches Courtney + Daniel thought of to make their big day perfect for the two of them. I also liked the party favor - flower seeds for guests to plant at home. After a big dinner from Middle of the Island, finishing with tasty cake from One Belle Bakery, it was time to dance! We had a great time getting to know Courtney, Daniel & their families. Congratulations you two! To forever friends - Click on images below to enlarge. Courtney + Daniel's Wedding Video from Brick Street Cinema Favorite Wedding Moment: Seeing how cool and calm Courtney + Daniel were about switching up the wedding ceremony plan because of rain. The rain did not faze them and they had no problem doing the ceremony inside because they trusted my plan and hey, at the end of the evening, they were married! Vendors
