Ashley + John wed at the stunning Southport Community Building on Saturday, September 26th, 2015. Ashley and her lovely bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready at the Lois Jane Inn in Southport while the groom and groomsmen got ready in the groom's suite at the community building. Ashley + John decided to do a "first look" with their photo and video team, Anchored In Love. I love it when couples do this! Not only does it allow you to save time when having to usually take family and bridal party photos post-ceremony during cocktail hour, but it gives the couple a chance to have an intimate and meaningful moment before the actual ceremony. I like to see the groom's reaction to seeing his bride for the first time too!
The ceremony took place outside on the deck at 5:00pm complete with 24 white leather couches, hand-crafted paper flower walls, 5 foot floral arrangements in tall gold vases, and a breathtaking riverfront view. I think I can speak for everyone when I say your heart could not help but melt when the couple tied a traditional sailor’s knot in honor of their union. Afterwards, all 105 of their friends and family were welcomed to cocktail hour where they were able to relax, catch up and congratulate the newlyweds in a tent alongside the community building. The reception began inside where each tables were decorated with gold linen, a sheer pink overlay, and an astonishing tall floral centerpiece by Kim Fisher Designs. Kim created beautiful floral compotes that ran down the head table for the bridal party as well. Each seat was complete with all gold stemware, napkins, and candle votives to create a romantic yet fun look. Guests were invited to take a seat and enjoy the delicious dinner served by Thyme Savor. During cocktail hour and dinner, the Knot Too Shabby Events crew flipped the ceremony area to create an inviting lounge area where lots of dancing would later take place. After dinner, the riverfront deck opened for dancing and was complete with softly lit lanterns, Edison lights, and gorgeous chandeliers. Anchored in Love captured timeless photos and video throughout the night of the newlyweds with friends and family. We know Ashley + John will never forget this night and neither will we. This was definitely one for the books and we could not have been more thrilled to be a part of such a beautiful wedding. Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Sledge, we wish you the best!

Favorite Wedding Moment:
I anticipated, dreamed and planned this wedding for nearly 9 months with Ashley and her mom, Amy. Upon my first consultation with them, they told me they wanted southern garden chic with a glimpse of Alice in Wonderland whimsical glam. Right there and then, I knew it was going to be a breath-taking wedding. From the white leather couches and white paper floral walls to the lush flowers for the ceremony and reception, no part of this wedding was a disappointment. My favorite part of the wedding was finally getting to set everything up and watching it all come together. We finished all of the set up right in time for the guest to arrive and we are so happy with how everything turned out. On the day before the wedding, we rented a tent due to a predicted downpour. I was so happy that the sky started to clear an hour before the ceremony and we were able to take away some of the sides on the tent to enjoy the beautiful Southport waterfront. It's hard to pick one favorite moment from this day but it would definitely be the set up for this fairytale wedding!

Jessie + Jacob married on a sunny September Saturday in downtown Wilmington at The RiverRoom! Jessie + Jacob chose Wilmington as their destination wedding location all the way from Danville, VA. The ceremony took place on the riverfront deck of the JW Brooks Building at The RiverRoom at 4:30pm. Jessie's uncle officiated the semi-circle designed ceremony. I love that they chose to stand in the middle of all of their guests so everyone had a great view of the intimate ceremony. Jessie's son, Jacob, was the ringbearer and the adorable flower girl waved a wand as she walked down the aisle before Jessie came in. After the ceremony, guest enjoyed an open bar and appetizers from Mustard Seed Catering. The caterer donates part of their proceeds to a local church in Winterville, NC. Not only was the food delicious but we think it's great that they support a great cause while serving tasty food to lucky couples. After dinner, we kicked off dancing with DJ Wilmington. Jessie + Jacob's first dance was "Forever Like You" by Ben Rector. This dance was followed by the father/daughter dance to "Dance with Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman and a very sweet mother/son dance. The room looked stunning with Edison lights from AV People, pretty champagne linens from ETC Party Rentals with baby's breath centerpieces from Fiore Fine Flowers. We used all round tables for guest seating and each guest was assigned to a table. The unique naked cake was baked with love from One Belle Bakery. The photographer, Ryan Midgett, got the perfect shot of the cake in the arch window of The RiverRoom with the Henrietta III boat passing by at sunset. It truly was a magical evening. We had such a great time at one of our favorite venues with an absolutely amazing couple! Congratulations Jessie + Jacob! We wish you an eternity of love and happiness. Jessie's WeddingWire Review: "I cannot say enough about how vital Melissa was to the wonderful success of the most amazing day I have ever had! Every single detail she had covered even when I changed plans more than a few times. I have never been more relaxed than I was on the day of my wedding because I knew that my wedding planner had everything under control. We were married at The RiverRoom in downtown Wilmington, NC and had our ceremony and reception at the same location. Although we tried to make things as simple as possible it was still a lot to do. We hired Melissa for the month of package and this covered all of our needs since I was doing a lot of the planning by myself but the last minute details I didn't even think about the month before the wedding Melissa covered them all. On the day of the wedding my MOH and I dropped off all of our decor and lists of where things went and when I came back in to our reception area the place took my breath away, it was SO much more than I had imagined and seeing it all come together so beautifully was worth more than what I paid for the service. The location had an awesome chalkboard bar that was so cool and in our rush, my MOH and I had scribbled the bar menu down on the chalkboard quickly and it looked junky, when I returned for our wedding it looked so much better and I was so glad they fixed our scribbles. When my maids and I were lining up my junior bridesmaid that was a last minute addition to the wedding party didn't have a bouquet and without hesitation my amazing wedding planner stepped in and gathered together a cute little arrangement from some flowers that were just laying around. Our wedding went off without a hitch and I owe it all to Melissa. She was worth SO much more than what we paid and I am beyond thankful for everything that she did for us on our wedding day. If you hire Melissa you will not regret it and your wedding is guaranteed to be more than you ever dreamed of!" Click on images below to enlarge. Favorite Wedding Moment: Watching Jessie's son, Lucas, enjoy the wedding day as much as Jessie + Jacob. Lucas was a crucial part of the entire wedding planning process. When Jessie was getting ready to walk down the aisle, I asked him how excited he was. To no surprise, he said he was very happy and excited to see his mom walk down the aisle. Jessie looked absolutely gorgeous walking down the aisle and I think even Lucas teared up a bit! Vendors
