On July 5th, 2015, Dick + Peggy Slye celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple and their entire family shared their love and joy for each other on this beautiful sunny day on North Topsail Island. Knot Too Shabby Events was hired to make this day a breeze while the rest of the family enjoyed their wonderful vacation home. There were two rooms of the house utilized for the event. In the dining room, there was a buffet counter for the food and a long table with 25 chairs for all of the family to sit together. The tables were layered with white linens and navy overlays from Shoreline Party Rentals. The table was decorated with floral centerpieces by Flora Verdi and mercury glass candle votives rented from KTSE. Before dinner started, the family had their pictures taken by Purple Monkey Photography. All of the families took photos with their individual families and then as a big group. We think it is such a good idea to hire a professional photographer for rare occasions like this. Thyme Savor Catering prepared a vast array of tremendous food. The buffet consisted of seafood platters as well as kids' meals with chicken tenders and mac & cheese. It is always hard to pass up mac & cheese, even for adults. One of their granddaughters prepared a slideshow presentation for them, which they watched during dinner. She recreated their lifetime of love using pictures and videos from the day her grandparents met to the present. It was extremely heartfelt and it even made some of us tear up. After dinner, the guests went into another oceanfront room for dessert and dancing. Active DJ Entertainment had guests of all ages up and dancing with smiles on their faces. Watching Dick +Peggy interact with each other was such a wonderful experience within itself. This was such an enjoyable day and we were so happy to be a part of it. Their love has lasted 50 years and every day is a new journey in which they take together. Your undying love is truly admirable. We wish you many more years of love and happiness, congratulations! Dick + Peggy had no idea what she had been working on for months. It was really sweet to watch their granddaughter narrate through each slide and show many family photos that had not been seen in years. Some family members were seeing these photos for the first time too. This moment just reminded me how bless I am to have such a big, loving family as well! Vendors

Taneia + Marc wed at The RiverRoom on July 3, 2015, an undoubtedly perfect way to start the holiday weekend! The guests and bridal party were escorted to the venue by Event Shuttle Service on a lovely Friday afternoon. The ceremony was held on the deck outside, where 55 of their closest friends and family were able to enjoy a perfect summer day along the Cape Fear River. The aisle was decorated with a white runner that read “Today I Marry My Best Friend” along with white lanterns from ETC Party Rentals. At the end of the aisle, we set up an arbor with white sheer fabric and two large floral arrangements. The bridesmaids' bouquets and boutonnieres were from Julia's Florist. The bridal party flowers were a mix of orange, pink, and white lilies, which created a romantic yet fun, summer feel. DJ Wilmington provided music for the ceremony and reception. Taneia looked absolutely beautiful as she walked down the aisle to meet her soon-to-be husband and best friend. Taneia + Marc were not afraid to show their excitement as they said "I do" and became husband and wife. Following the ceremony, guests were invited to enjoy cocktail hour inside The RiverRoom. Champagne was served along with a delicious cheese and fruit display provided by Middle of the Island Catering. This reception was particularly unique because this couple was not afraid to use bright colors! Each table was decorated with a coral linen and each chair had a turquoise tie; this was such a perfect color combination for their summer wedding. The exposed brick venue looked stunning as each table was decorated with a black lantern with small candle votives around it. Taneia + Marc had their own sweetheart table with signs that read “Bride” and “Groom” on their chairs, as well as personalized champagne glasses that read “Mr” and “Mrs". After DJ Wilmington introduced the bridal party into the reception, there was an open bar for guests to enjoy bottled beer, wine, and champagne. After the introductions, Taneia + Marc shared their first dance as husband and wife, followed by a blessing by the officiant, Luther Moore III. Middle of the Island then invited guests to enjoy a tasty buffet style dinner. After dinner, toasts were made and the two-tier wedding cake from One Belle Bakery was served. Guests were finally welcomed to be a part of the good luck dance followed by a lot more dancing before the evening came to a close. The smiling faces and positivity of Taniea + Marc made the countless hours of planning worth it! We are so honored to have been a part of Taneia + Marc’s special day! Congratulations you two! Taneia's WeddingWire Review: "A wedding planning gem... Melissa’s professionalism, expertise, and wide vision were key in the most enjoyable time of our lives. Even for our small wedding of 54 guests at the River Room on July 3, 2015, we realized that it needs just as much work, if not more, than a larger wedding. From the beginning, she understood the big picture, listened to our needs, and offered amazing advice and alternatives. She is an expert planner who has plenty of ideas of her own, but always understands that this is your day and allows you to have your own opinion, which sets her apart as a true event planner vs just any other planner. Our wedding was a dream from beginning to end, without a single worry from our end. We were both completely relaxed, knowing Melissa would handle everything perfectly, which she did. Melissa is a true gem. Her no-nonsense approach, tireless work ethic, and creativity will all come together to give you the best event or wedding you've ever dreamed- and beyond! We highly recommend Knot Too Shabby Events. Thank you so much for everything." Click on images below to enlarge. Favorite Wedding Moment: Watching Taneia + Marc during their first dance. They chose "Living For The Love of You" by the Isley Brothers. You could just see how obviously in love they are and I almost couldn't help but just stare at them as they held each other during this romantic dance. Vendors

The wedding was extra special because both their ceremony and reception were held on the monumental USS North Carolina Battleship! This was Knot Too Shabby Events' first event on the Battleship and we provided a full service planning package! It was great working with the couple from the beginning of the planning process to the end of the wedding day. We had beautiful weather in Wilmington, which led to great photos of this even greater couple. The photographers were Jeff and Lori of indigosilver studios, one of our fav photographers to work with! Tyler Kent Salon made sure the bride and her bridesmaids looked flawless with special updos and airbrush makeup. The wonderful ceremony was officiated by the bride's brother and included music from DJ Wilmington. The ceremony took place facing the historic WWII airplane on the ship with two large floral arrangements on pillars and gold floating candles at the alter. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour while the newlyweds and the rest of the bridal party were on the other side of the Battleship taking pictures. Dinner was catered by Middle of The Island and was very tasty, per usual. A Boxed Event provided the beautiful flowers and an exceptional head table with a dramatic floral runner atop a gold sequined linen. ETC Part Rentals provided the unique mismatched and textured linens throughout the tables to go with the old Hollywood glam theme; which included black and white striped, gold textured, and light pink linens. The couple couldn't choose just one wedding cake so we had 8 cakes from Creative Cake Design by Tammy Hodge. The couple even gave away cake party favors in cute little cake boxes with personalized labels. Everything look amazing and we are so happy to be part of this special Battleship wedding! Congratulations C + J, we wish you many years of love and happiness! Wilmington Weddings + Events Feature:Wilmington Weddings + Events recently featured this pretty wedding on their blog. Take a look this blog written by the bride. It's nice to hear about it from her perspective! WeddingWire Review: "I told Melissa from our first phone conversation that my main goal was to have fun at my wedding. I plan events during the year, so I just wanted to show up relaxed instead of working hard at my own wedding. Melissa and her team made every step of the wedding flawless and easy. We live in a different state, so Melissa's knowledge of the vendors and the town were crucial. I cannot stress enough how professional her whole team was during the day of my wedding and how professional Melissa was while we were in the planning stages. We found Melissa online since we didn't know anyone in Wilmington and decided to talk to her mainly because her prices were right on her website. Thank goodness we booked her! She was a dream to work with and kept us both calm and happy in the planning stages as well as relaxed on the day of our wedding. I literally did not stress at all because I knew Melissa was going to handle it. The vendors she pointed us towards were incredible. People are still talking about the food, and we hardly had any leftovers. I am in love with my wedding photos, and the venue looked perfect because of the vendor Melissa recommended. My husband and I are incredibly frugal, but Melissa's services from Knot Too Shabby were worth every penny! Thanks, Melissa!" Favorite Wedding Moment: The wedding took place a few days after "Red Nose Day" so one of the guest passed out red noses. Before we knew it, half of the guests were wearing them, including DJ David. It was so cute to see. One of the guest was also a magician so the wedding was filled with magic tricks and juggling. You don't see this every day. I loved it! Vendors
